Investing in You

The aim of our Learning Development Program (LDP) isn’t to develop associates, it’s to foster leaders who will grow within our company for the next 5, 10, 15 years.

By rotating among departments, associates gain a well-rounded understanding of our business goals and objectives, ensuring that our leaders aren't confined to a singular skillset but are equipped to make decisions with Fortegra’s wider vision in mind.

In addition, our LDP associates are exposed to real-world challenges, equipping them with the agility and innovation required to excel in today's dynamic business landscape.
They also have the unique opportunity to gain insights and mentorship from our executive team, senior management, and other top-level leaders across our organization.

Our executive team plays a unique role in mentoring and guiding our LDP associates to success.

Executive Exposure

Our L&D department provides LDP associates with in-person teaching sessions and online courses that help them reach their professional goals.

Learning & Development

Each year, our LDP associates collaborate on a team project chosen by the company executives. In addition to meeting business goals, these projects strengthen soft skills like organization, communication, and working together to meet a shared deadline.

Impactful Projects

Volunteerism and supporting charitable causes are key components in our Leadership Development Program. Associates have opportunities to participate through Fortegra's community well-being initiatives.

Community Involvement

Leadership Development Program

Your questions, answered.

Is the LDP a full-time position?

Yes, the Leadership Development Program is a full-time paid position. It is not an internship.

When does the Leadership Development Program start?

The Program typically begins mid-June and candidates commit to the Program for 2 years.

Who is eligible for the Leadership Development Program?

The Leadership Development Program is designed for recent college graduates pursuing a degree in business or a related field.

How many LDPs are in the Program?

Each Cohort has roughly 4-5 associates. Between the two cohorts, there are 8-10 LDPs in the Program at any given time.

Are LDPs required to be in-office?

To maximize the benefits of the Program, including hands-on training and mentorship, our LDP associates are expected to work in our Jacksonville, FL office. In addition, one of the perks of the Program is the Cohort experience – a group of peers for LDP associates to experience the program with; this unique positive attribute is most rewarding when our associates are able to work collaboratively and alongside one another.

What happens after I complete the Program?

During the 2-year Program, we want our LDP associates to rotate to various departments to learn the business, develop both soft and technical skills and, ultimately, determine where they want to reside after the LDP. Contingent on the associate’s performance, a full-time offer will be extended after Program completion. Placement is driven by business need coupled with the LDP associate’s skillset.

Am I eligible even if I do not have insurance experience?

Absolutely! Prior insurance experience or knowledge of the industry is not required. A majority of our LDPs enter the Program with little-to-no insurance knowledge.

How is the LDP structured? What are the benefits of the Program?

Over 24-months, LDPs will rotate through 2-4 core departments, each rotation lasting 6-12 months, offering a breadth of projects and opportunities. While in each rotation, the LDP will be fully immersed in the department to ensure a comprehensive experience. During this time, LDP associates are exposed to different parts of the organization to build business acumen and functional skills. Rigorous educational, technical, and immersive on-the-job training accelerates learning and career development for program participants. In addition, the Program offers multiple leadership opportunities and stretch projects, allowing participants to demonstrate their capabilities. Executive mentorship, career coaching and tailored leadership training will complement the experience. By the end of the Program, the LDP associates will be equipped with the critical tools, resources, and a foundational platform for future career success at Fortegra.
